The Project

The project 'Echoes of the Past – Heritage Futures. Vocational Educational and Training in Post Industrial Landscape' wants to promote excellence in industrial heritage education and training, by producing vital knowledge for unemployed people, like ex­workers of industrial units that have recently been closed, school teachers/trainers lacking heritage educational skills, trainers of people with special and professionals working with post­industrial heritage and landscapes.

The overall goal of this project is to engage those specific target groups in systematic and sustained learning activities in order to develop new knowledge, skills and competencies by using post­industrial heritage and landscapes as an educational resource.

The main idea is to respond to some common key problems and to capitalise VET programmes and methodologies in the educational and cultural area in general and in specific in post­industrial landscapes.

 

Project Partners

  • MUNICÍPIO DO FUNDÃO

    The City Hall of Fundão is a local administration authority who manages 700 km2 and a population over 30 thousand inhabitants, living in 31 civil parishes. The City Hall organic services are established in five departments and has 291 collaborators. As central values of the Fundão City Hall mission, it assumes: 1. Proximity Services; 2. Social Equity; 3. Quality in care and social responses; 4. Partnerships and co-responsibilities in civic and business areas; 5. Social services and solutions targeted at specific groups / problems.

  • ISQ

    ISQ is a private, non-profit and independent technological institution founded in 1965, currently running operations in more than 40 countries across the world (EU, Eastern Europe, Africa, Americas and Asia), offering its experience in technical inspections, technical assistance for engineering projects, consultancy services and training activities, supported by transversal research and development activities and by 23 accredited laboratories (e.g.: chemical, bio and agro testing, non-destructive testing, Aerospatiale, etc).

  • FUNDAÇÃO ROBINSON

    Portalegre is a Portuguese city in Northern Alentejo with a strong industrial tradition. The Fundação Robinson (Robinson Foundation), public institution with private law, head-quartered in Portalegre, aims to carry out cultural, educational, social, and scientific activities, and may also act within the field of sports and philanthropy. It has as its specific objective the preservation of cultural heritage: of the archaeological-industrial estate of Robinson Factory and whatever other estates with which it may be entrusted.

  • ELDERBERRY AB

    Elderberry Ab undertakes curriculum development and strategic studies, authoring, testing, editing and publishing within school, youth, adult, teacher and VET education, often with socio-cultural and urban implications. The company is experienced with traditional methods for educational material as with eLearning and eCulture.

  • STADTARCHIV DORNBIRN

    The Town Archives of Dornbirn functions as a documentation center for local history and as a service center for all citizens, scholars and scientists interested in the past of Dornbirn. The archive has been carrying out its own research on topics such as visual history and oral history. The City Archives of Dornbirn is competent for an area known for its industrial history. Mainly the textile industry suffered badly in the 1980 and since then there are high rates of long term unemployment and many post-industrial sites.

  • CULTURE COVENTRY

    Culture Coventry is a newly formed charitable trust (2013) managing the most important cultural and heritage sites and venues in Coventry; Coventry Transport Museum, The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, The Lunt Roman Fort and the History Centre (City Archive deposit). It is a recognised educational charity devoted to telling the rich history of Coventry City, from the early Roman times to present day.
